I began EatingOxford.com in November of 2009 when I was unable to find an online resource that provided current menus and news about the restaurants in and around Oxford. I knew I wasn't the only Oxonian searching for this information, so I decided to create the resource that so many were hungry for (pun intended).
While EatingOxford.com is fairly new, I'm not new to the restaurant scene. I'm the editor-in-chief of a national foodservice trade magazine based right here in Oxford (
PMQ Pizza Magazine), which takes me around the country on a regular basis to speak with dozens of restaurant owners; I'm neck deep in food-related articles, blogs, press releases and the like on a daily basis; and ask anyone who knows me and they can attest to how much I enjoy dining out.
As for the local scene, I co-authored a bi-weekly restaurant review column for
The Local Voice a couple of years back (I was "the meateater" of the duo Two Taste Buds). Many folks still ask about that column, which was popular with restaurant patrons but not always a hit with restaurant owners.
On a broader level, I serve on the Board of Directors for the International Foodservice Editorial Council (IFEC), an association for writers, editors and public relations professionals working in and around the foodservice industry.
